No one likes to be out of control emotionally. When thoughts and behaviors take over, it's referred to as dysregulation. And too often we attempt to regain “control” the wrong way.

A good way to reinforce the process of self-regulation with children is to ask the question, “Can you show me you are a Can-Do Kid?” Then, follow up with eight easy-to-remember brain-based actions associated with each letter in the phrase, Can-Do Kid.
